I am an idea person. No question. Every single day I'm bombarded with new ideas. Driving by an empty storefront, lot, or abandoned house, without effort, I envision its possibilities.
Admittedly, while I'm mostly a COLLECTOR of ideas, I also have a habit of being a starter of ideas yet not a finisher.
So this year, God challenged me to be a FINISHER. Part of that meant agreeing to not starting anything "new" this year. 😳
Granted, to follow through with one specific idea, you need others to implement said concept. But in this case, the "new" ideas are cohesive - working together to finish and complete a project.
For example, we have a vintage typewriter business. Vintage typewriters are, well, vintage, thus, limited. And, we can only repair so many in a given week. Thus, our capacity is fixed.
How do you grow a business and keep it interesting and thriving when you're maxed out?
Add related products that are not as time-intensive and limiting.
Last Fall, I added typewriter covers. My mother makes them, I sell them. They are going like wildfire! We also added typewriter pads. Unlimited stock, no time requirements from us, and an easy upsell on typewriter listings. Then, last month, I inadvertently stumbled on another new concept for our business that is launching this week: typewriter art. I already have the photographs and the need is out there (because I was looking to buy some for my office space and couldn't find anything good, so I made my own. Then, it hit me that I could easily sell it).
This is a perfect example of a new idea that isn't starting anything new-new but expanding on something that is existing.
Another example is my desire for writing/teaching. I've been all over with that and never launching anything, just thinking about it. I know that it is my primary call. But to actually put myself out there requires the implementation of new ideas. Granted, THOSE NEW IDEAS MUST USE AND BUILD ON SOMETHING THAT IS ALREADY EXISTING FROM IT TO SUPPORT MY GOAL OF BEING A FINISHER.
This KWIM channel is just one avenue, while, last week, I launched a Telegram channel by the name of "The Narrow Life". In that, I am taking content from my many years of writing in notebooks and turning it into video Bible lessons and blogs.
So - while it seems like there is so much NEWNESS in my life, it is really a result of becoming a FINISHER of something I already started. It's the implementation of ideas instead of admiring an idea like a trophy on a shelf - it doesn't do me any good there and an unused idea is always a bad idea.
I'll finish with this short thought from Seth Godin:

I've been away for some time. Major changes. Launched a new business (www.paolalane.com), lots of personal growth...now I'm ready to connect with other Kingdom entrepreneurs for a mastermind/mentoring group. The Locals platform is where this will be hosted.
If you are a business owner that is looking to improve your business skills while first being rooted and grounded in the things of the Kingdom of God and desire to fine tune your ear and heart to the voice of the Father, then reach out.
This group will be free at this time but limited to 5 participants. I will act as a FACILITATOR - not an instructor. The goal is for everyone to contribute and learn from each other.
Email me at [email protected] if interested.
I'm a very introspective person. Even the littlest things I encounter in my day cause me to ponder and think deeply. This can be a drain on my emotions. The Psalms of King David are so relatable to me because one day I can be standing firm, confident, and shouting the praises of God, and the next day wondering why I'm even living - but I also come back to I praise God anyway in the midst of my darkest questions.
Mondays are intended to be reserved for study of the Word and time in His Presence. But my best intentions often get bushed back with pending issues with the business. Yet this morning, I was determined to reclaim my Mondays, and as I sit here with my Bible, pen, and paper - a thought fluttered by about all the work I could be doing and I quickly swatted it down because I NEED THIS DAY TO BE A BETTER ME. I need this day to do business better, to interact with family, friends, and customers with grace and mercy.
How profoundly it hit me that to care for our spirit and soul is of ...
